Ex-convict aims to inspire youth – PHOTO GALLERY─── 09:25 Fri, 05 Jul 2019
An ex-convict from Grassland in Bloemfontein, Thabo Botsane, has taken it upon himself to recruit troublesome youth between the ages of 11 and 22 in his area, to form a soccer team as a strategy to keep them off the streets.
He believes that soccer can bring people together and build healthy relationships. Botsane says it is painful to see how the youth is destroying their future and it is his responsibility to use his experience to guide and assist them. They are currently cleaning a piece of land in the area which people have turned into a dumping site, in order to use it as a soccer field. He specifically targeted youth that are drop-outs and who take part in gang or criminal activities.
