Bfn Children’s Choir makes BBC appearance─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 10:13 Sun, 07 Jul 2019
The Bloemfontein Children’s Choir have made residents of the Free State capital proud, after appearing on British television this week.
The Choir, led by Founder and Director Huibrie Verster, as well as the patron and choreographer, Willie Venter, were interviewed by Sally Hurst on BBC’s Look North programme. This was ahead of their performance in York with the Cantar Community Choir at the York St John University, on Friday. Venter shares some of the positive influences the choir has had on its diverse members’ lives over the 32 years since its start.
He describes the choir “as a home away from home” for its members, adding they are like a family, something which is rare to find in schools. Hurst also interviewed two of the choir members who shared what it is like travelling the world with the choir. The choir has since the broadcast moved on to Scotland where they are representing South Africa at the Sterling Bridge International Youth Festival which takes place from 6 to 11 July.
