Commotion erupts outside UFS following EFFSC assembly─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 09:27 Sun, 14 Jul 2019
South Africa’s number one enemy is poverty and not crime and gangsterism.
This is according to EFF leader Julius Malema. Addressing hundreds of party members at the EFF Student Command’s 3rd National Assembly held at the University of the Free State’s Bloemfontein campus on Saturday, Malema said deploying soldiers to gang-ridden areas such as the Western Cape would not solve the problem.
He said the economy of the country is still in the hands of a few, and there is a high need to fast-track measures for expropriation of land without compensation.
The event, held at the UFS Business Building, saw Mandla Shikwambana being elected as President of the EFF Student Command.
A commotion was reported after the event last night, with some EFF members alleged to have pelted passing vehicles with rocks in the Brandwag area outside the campus.
It remains unknown what could have led to the commission and whether the culprits seen wearing red berets, T-shirts were indeed EFF members.
The Free State police is yet to respond to OFM News’ inquiry on whether there were any arrests following the incident outside the campus.
