Ntombela's much-anticipated budget speech for the Office of the Premier for the 2019/20 fiscal year comes just weeks after she delivered the State of the Province Address where she made promises to bring about the much-needed change in the province.

Ntombela vowed to ensure economic growth, reduce the number of unemployed youth, improving the state of health and education in the province as well as the state of service delivery at municipal level.

Coupled with this, the newly appointed Finance MEC Brown is expected to outline her top list of priorities in the tabling of Treasury's budget. She highlighted these as corruption, irregular and fruitless expenditure, and to ensure the implementation of cost-cutting measures across all spheres of government.

Ntombela and Brown are also expected to outline how they are going to ensure that these plans materialise - and how they plan to turn around the situation at various municipalities following the recent damning Auditor-General report that indicated that none of the Free State municipalities obtained a clean audit.
