Premier visits Vaal Hospital─── 15:27 Wed, 17 Jul 2019
The Sebokeng Regional Hospital in the Vaal is one of the five worst performing hospitals in Gauteng.
This is according to Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, who was addressing the media at the hospital premises where he made an unannounced visit today. Makhura was accompanied by Gauteng MEC for Health, Dr Bandile Masuku. The purpose of the visit was to check the state of the hospital, which they both agreed is dissatisfying.
Makhura told reporters that the main problem faced by the hospital is long queues and lack of staff, which needs a significant turn-around. He is, however, impressed that the hospital has now bought machines to assist sick people who were previously transported to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.
Meanwhile, Gauteng MEC for Health, Bandile Masuku, says they are going to appoint a new CEO and recruit more staff in an attempt to fix problems at the hospital.
