The case against a 41-year-old North West man accused of killing and burying his girlfriend in a shallow grave has been postponed to 30 July 2019.

Hendrik Molehe appeared briefly before the Bray Magistrate’s Court earlier today after he was arrested yesterday in connection with the murder of his 35-year-old girlfriend.

Police spokesperson, Amanda Funani, says Molehe will remain in custody until his court appearance next week for a formal bail application.

OFM News previously reported that it is alleged the suspect killed and buried the victim in a shallow grave on a farm where they worked. The victim, whose name cannot be revealed at this stage, was last seen with the suspect on the first weekend of July and was reported missing by her family on the 21st of July.

Funani says the police intervened when the community of Matlhoding, just over 100 kilometres outside Mahikeng, became suspicious of the suspect and started questioning him. She says information received led the police to the farm where he allegedly buried the victim. Funani added that after discovering the decomposed body, it was exhumed from the shallow grave and then taken to the local mortuary.
