Lecturer suspended after sexual harassment claims─── 12:53 Wed, 31 Jul 2019
Students from the Sedibeng TVET College in Gauteng are happy following the suspension of a male lecturer, who is alleged to have sexually harassed female students in exchange for marks in order for them to pass.
Following this complaint, female students on Monday took to the streets in a peaceful march to show their unhappiness. Students Representative Council (SRC) chairperson, Tokelo Sebopela, told OFM News the suspension indicates commitment by the college's management to act in the best interest of the students. He is, however, hoping for the alleged lecturer to be dismissed at the end of the investigation.
Meanwhile, the students’ female structure is still appealing to fellow students, who may be victims of the alleged sexual harassment, to come forward and lay charges with the police.
