Politicians abusing Zondo commission - ANC MP─── PULANE CHOANE 16:35 Wed, 31 Jul 2019
Free State ANC MP Lawrence Edward McDonald says he is worried that some witnesses at the Zondo Commission into State Capture Inquiry are using the inquiry as a playground for political battles.
McDonald spoke to OFM News earlier today at a briefing called by the party in the Mangaung region, which was held at the Kaizer Sebothelo offices in Bloemfontein - the party's regional office.
McDonald is seemingly taking a swipe at, among others that have appeared before the Commission, former MEC for Economic Development in the province, Mxolisi Dukwana.
Dukwana made his testimony at the commission in April earlier this year, thereby lifting the lid on state capture within the Free State. He specifically testified about former premier Ace Magashule’s alleged involvement in state capture, thereby also linking the controversial Gupta brothers to Magashule as he claimed that he was introduced to them by the former premier.
More recently, the Democratic Alliance in the Free State’s Roy Jankielsohn also appeared at the Commission last week, together with Albertus Venter, who works at the provincial premier’s office.
The two specifically spoke about the controversial Estina Dairy Farm project and their knowledge of it. OFM News earlier reported on the damning revelations made by the two officials at the commission, which adjourned last week Friday. The testimonies of the intended beneficiaries of the dairy farm project in Vrede, Free State, followed the officials’. The commission, which is currently compiling its report into the matter, will resume on August 12.
