Money-lending NW couple charged with fraud─── LUCKY NKUYANE 16:17 Tue, 06 Aug 2019
A North West couple is out on R1000 bail following their appearance at the Mahikeng Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 6 August 2019, over allegations of fraud in relation to the contravention of the National Credit Regulator Act.
The Hawks spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, says Victor Mosiane (44) and his wife Dorcus Mosiane (42) were arrested on 2 August and made their first appearance in court on the same day they were apprehended, before the case was postponed to Tuesday 6 August.
She says the investigations by the Priority Crime Investigation Unit revealed that the couple allegedly ran an unregistered and fraudulent money lending business. She says the couple allegedly forced clients to hand over their vehicle registration documents as well as their vehicles as surety. Rikhotso says the suspects allegedly changed ownership of some vehicles without the consent of the clients and late payments would result in excessive interest rates being charged. She says following the couple’s second appearance, the matter was postponed to 27 September 2019.
