The event, meant to commemorate the role played by women in the liberation struggle, is expected to be held in the province’s town of Vryburg. According to the South African Police Services’ Katlego Mogale, all safety and security measures have been put in place. He adds approximately 10 000 people from all four districts in North West and other provinces are expected to attend the event. President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver a key note address. It is also on this day when the plight still faced by women throughout the country is put to the forefront.

Web: Mogale added that the security cluster of the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NatJOINTS) has put together several security plans to ensure safety during this 25th National Women’s Day celebration.

He warns that no weapons, firearms and alcohol will be allowed at the Vryburg Showgrounds and that a number of streets around the area will be closed off.
