Destea invites applications from young FS entrepreneurs─── 10:53 Wed, 14 Aug 2019
The Free State Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Destea) has opened applications for this current financial year and is calling on young entrepreneurs to come forward with their business ideas.
Although the Free State had a slight decrease in its unemployment rate of 0.5% during the second quarter of 2019, as released by Stats SA recently, almost half of the young people still remain unemployed. With an effort to make sure unemployment, particularly among the youth, is tackled extensively, the Free State’s Destea has vowed to assist budding entrepreneurs around the province with their ground-breaking initiative known as Tabalaza Pitching Programme, which was established in 2017. The initiative’s primary objective is to promote entrepreneurship among the youth. It offers a platform for young aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase products to potential customers and investors.
The Destea MEC, Makalo Mohale, says as the provincial government they have noted that most young people battle to find employment hence the department initiated the programme.
The closing date to submit applications is this Friday.
