The Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC in the Free State, Thembeni Nxangisa, still has hope that there will be stability in the Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality after the upcoming by-elections.
He told OFM News that a lot of challenges faced by the municipality will be coming to an end after the by-elections on August 28.
Nxangisa believes that there will be an opportunity to elect a mayor, speaker, and chief whip for proper reporting in the provincial government. He said that this will also allow the municipality to employ a municipal manager (MM). Nxangisa shared that the municipal equitable share is unlocked and residents can expect proper service delivery and employees will receive salaries on time.
Furthermore, he explained that the provincial and national administration have been deployed to assess and add value in the municipality to ensure that there's proper management. Nxangisa also mentioned that his department has engaged with Eskom to stabilise the power cuts which happens without reason.
