Explosives suspect to reappear in court tomorrow─── 16:05 Thu, 15 Aug 2019
A 58 year old man arrested for being in possession of a large quantity of explosives will tomorrow reappear before the Orkney Magistrate's court for bail application.
Tau Lekoa was supposed to apply for bail last Thursday, but failed to do so as the court adjourned earlier on that day.
Police arrest him after they found power-gel, explosives tube starters, shock tubes assemblies and nitro cords estimated to be worth one million rand that he hid at an empty shack in Kanana.
Provincial Hawks spokesperson, Captain Tlangelani Rikhotso, said Lekoa is an employee at one of the mines in the area, and that police suspect he stole the explosives from his place of employment.
