Free State Police reveal that quite a large number of South Africans, including high profile businessmen and politicians, regularly contravene the Safety at Sport and Recreational Events Act known as Sasrea.
The police have noted that this is an area of concern that they hope to improve by generating greater awareness around the Act. OFM News spoke to Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Pieter Nienaber, the man overseeing the coordination of events at the Free State police’s Operational Coordination Centre who explains at length what the Act is and whether or not you as a potential event organiser need to adhere to this Act.
