Two men and a teenager were arrested for allegedly stealing sheep to the estimated value of almost R100,000, North West police said on Monday.
Police spokesperson, Adéle Myburgh, said two men, aged 27 and 28, as well as a 17-year-old teenager, were arrested on Friday for allegedly stealing 32 sheep to the estimated value of R99,200 at Ottosdal.
"Upon realising that his sheep was missing, a farmer on a farm that is about 25 km from Ottosdal, followed the tracks of his sheep. He found six sheep that were grazing on neighbouring farms and caught up with the thieves, who were busy tying up the sheep about 30km from the farm where the sheep were initially taken from.
"The police were called and the three were arrested, 13 more sheep were recovered and 13 sheep’s whereabouts are still unknown," she said.
They were due to appear in the Ottosdal Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, facing charges of theft of sheep.
The teenager would appear in the children’s court.
