Netcare 911 medical emergency services spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, says the three sustained fatal injuries when they were ejected from their vehicle.

This followed a collision between an SUV and a light motor vehicle. He says medics assessed them and unfortunately the three women were declared dead on the scene.

Herbst adds that two other female patients, from the same car, sustained moderate injuries but were treated and transported to the hospital for further treatment.

The occupants of the SUV were not injured. All necessary authorities were on the scene.
