Deputy minister of Trade and Industry, Fikile Majola, says the Gauteng government has taken major steps toward building a R40 billion Special Economic Zone, which will help revive the Vaal economy.
Majola says the zone will also create economic and employment opportunities. He added the special zone will be completed in the next five years. Majola mentioned this during his engagement with Evaton residents on Saturday.
Furthermore the Emfuleni local municipality Mayor, Gift Moerane, urged the residents to ensure they set up their businesses, cooperatives and consortiums and skill themselves in preparation for opportunities that will come with the establishment of the new mega city - the Vaal 21 River city project.
This project was unveiled by Gauteng premier David Makhura, and will comprise 400 000 square meters of commercial office space, 60 thousand square meters of retail and leisure components, with 5000 residential units.
