Mkhwebane set to engage Platfontein residents─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 08:31 Thu, 26 Sep 2019
Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane will today engage the community of Platfontein in the Northern Cape.
Mkhwebane’s engagement with the community, located just a few kilometres from the province’s capital city of Kimberley, forms part of her national 2019 roadshow. Her visit to the community, which mainly consists of two San tribes, also comes just two days after President Cyril Ramaphosa highlighted the importance of preserving the San’s indigenous languages and traditions during the national Heritage Day celebrations held in Upington.
Her visit to the poverty-stricken community is also expected to shed more light on measures residents can take in cases where they feel their provincial government and local municipality is not providing them with adequate services and where they have proof of maladministration and corruption within the spheres of government.
