Social Development opens a community care centre in NW─── 14:21 Fri, 04 Oct 2019
The second of six community care centres established with the financial assistance of the German state-owned Development Corporation, KfW, will officially be opened in Taung, North West, on Friday 4 October.
The care centre will be opened by the Deputy Minister of Social Development, Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu.
The centre is established through a partnership between the Department of Social Development and the German state-owned Development Corporation. The partnership has built 17 community care centres in KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and North West.
The department says Kgomotso community care centres are aimed to enhance the quality of services to orphans and vulnerable children. This comes after the HOD of Social Development in the Free State, Mokone Nthongwa, highlighted social welfare issues amongst communities, particularly the elderly, at the Free State Legislature's Older Persons Parliament which was hosted in Bloemfontein on 3 October 2019.
