Fire department dispatches three vehicles in search of fire─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:50 Tue, 08 Oct 2019
The Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM) Fire Department says it dispatched three of its vehicles following repeated calls of a fire in the vicinity of the Sewe Damme Retirement Village in Bloemfontein in the Free State.
However, the chief of operations, Bram van der Westhuizen, says there are conflicting reports about the actual address of the place.
He has called on the public to provide them with an accurate address in order for the fire personnel to attend the scene as soon as possible. The month of October is considered as a time where wildfires are experienced often.
In the meantime, the hotline numbers of the Bloemfontein Disaster Management Centre have been changed temporarily due to a technical issue of the service provider. Andries Moalosi, coordinator of the Mangaung Disaster Management Centre in Bloemfontein, pleads with residents to immediately phone the Disaster Management centre in case of a fire, regardless of how small the fire may seem to be, to avoid it getting out of control, resulting in difficulties to extinguish it.
In case of fire, traffic, and other emergencies residents should call 051-6099-600 or 051-409-9600 or the Vodacom network’s 107.
