#MokoenaMurder: Defence argues content of client’s confession | News Article
The late Lucas Mokoena

The alleged confession of the Bloemfontein woman, who is accused of organising a hit on her husband, was scrutinised in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court today.

Wife and suspect in the murder case of local farmer and businessman, Lucas Mokoena, Kelebogile, was back in court today for her bail application.

Kelebogile's legal representative argues the content of her confession made to the police, is not a true reflection of her version.

She and her attorney say certain paragraphs in her alleged confession document is questionable and somehow create the impression that police may have erred in obtaining a statement from the accused.

Both legal representatives for Elvis Sonnyboy Galeboe and Kelebogile say it's in the interest of justice that the two be granted bail because their submissions before the court have proven their argument for exceptional circumstances.

State prosecutor Johan de Vries argued against this submission. Magistrate Ryan Ishmail postponed the bail applications to 23 October 2019.

Ishmail further told both the state and defence teams inside the fully packed court 20 that he does not have sufficient information to make a decision on the matter.

He says it will not be in the interest of justice to make a decision today, 14 October 2019, and asked to be given time to go through submissions. De Vries says the state is also looking into possibilities of further charges against Kelebogile, such as perjury.

OFM News previously reported that the controversial pastor Galeboe claims that the police tortured and coerced him into making the statement.

Galeboe claims the Free State police officers who arrested him in August 2019, forced him to admit that he knows the alleged three hitmen.

This after Kelebogile implicated him when she told the police that Galeboe organised hitmen on her husband after their discussion about the marital problems she had with the deceased. The state alleges Kelebogile paid R10 000 to three hitmen from Vanderbijlpark in Gauteng, at Twin City in Heidedal.

During his cross-examination in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court, Galeboe said he supplied police officers with three random names on his phone's contact list out of fear of being tortured.

OFM News reported previously that the deceased allegedly found his wife in the main bedroom and went on to the bathroom where he found the armed men. A scuffle ensued and he was dragged back to the bedroom where he was shot in the head in the presence of his wife. The suspects left the scene with the deceased’s vehicle, an undisclosed amount of money and cell phones. The vehicle was later recovered in Lourier Park.
