Drug peddlers arrested in Aliwal North─── 15:13 Tue, 15 Oct 2019
Members of the South African Police Service's Aliwal North Cluster, in pursuit of ridding the streets of criminals, have arrested two suspects for the possession of drugs.
An intelligence-driven operation late on Monday afternoon was successfully conducted by members of the Cluster Task Team, Crime Intelligence (CI) and the K9 Unit. They acted swiftly on intelligence and managed to apprehend two suspects. Both suspects are being detained at the Aliwal North Police cells, awaiting their court appearance at the Aliwal North District Court.
The suspects had 552 Mandrax tablets, to the estimated value of R55 200, and 28 grams Crystal Meth/Tik with the value estimated at R6 600. The total estimated street value of the drugs is R61 800.
Aliwal North Acting Cluster Commander, Colonel Mpho Rabele, welcomed the arrest of the two suspects. He stated that this was a major breakthrough in removing illicit drugs that have festered among the youth and is poisoning communities.
