#CalebMotshabiMurders: Mother of two abandons bail application | News Article

There has been another surprising twist of events in the Caleb Motshabi murder case in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court in the Free State on Tuesday as the murder accused Seipati Ramatisa abandoned her bail application.

Ramatisa is the fifth suspect to abandon her bail application in the murder case of two DA members, Molokwane Mkgoro and Godfrey Mbalula, as well as a Lesotho national in Dinaweng, Bloemfontein, earlier this year.

The reason for her decision to abandon her bail application remains a mystery for now.She stands accused of destroying material evidence and assisting her boyfriend and co-accused Jabulani Machoto to evade being arrested. Magistrate Ryan Ishmail asked her to confirm if it’s true that she was abounding her application and she confirmed that indeed she was. Her defence team was about to cross-examine the investigating officer (IO), Tibi Mahlatsi, after he testified last week that it will not be safe Ramatisa to be released on bail.

Last week the court heard about the pressure applied by the murder-accused and boyfriend of Ramatisa. Mahlatsi described her as a person influenced by her co-accused and boyfriend Machoto. Mahlatsi told the court that Ramatisa allegedly accompanied Machoto to a traditional healer where a cleansing ceremony was set to be performed on him to evade the arrest.

OFM News previously reported that at least three cases of alleged contractual killings were heard last week in courtroom 20, suggesting that crimes of this nature are becoming more prevalent in the Mangaung area. State prosecutor Johan de Vries told the magistrate that within a week the courtroom had to sit at least three times and discuss such cases. De Vries told Ishmail it includes the matter between the state, Kelebogile Mokoena and Pastor Elvis Sonnyboy Galeboe - accused of organising a hit on Kelebogile's husband Lucas Mokoena, at his home in Fichardt Park in July.
