No lead yet on mysterious death of NWU lecturer─── LUCKY NKUYANE 07:51 Thu, 24 Oct 2019
The North West police say there have not been any other leads yet on the mysterious death of the North-West University's (NWU) lecturer, Rudi van de Venter.
Police spokesperson, Aafje Botma, tells OFM News that there have not been any new developments in the case. This comes after Van de Venter's body was discovered in a ditch on campus in an unnatural position with his head down. Botma says the police are still investigating the matter. Meanwhile, NWU Spokesperson, Louis Jacobs, says the body the 48-year-old deceased - a lecturer at the Faculty of Education - was found by one of the university's workers.
He said that the university is currently busy with repairs to various water pipes on campus. Van de Venter was believed to be on his way to his office in the early hours of Saturday morning when he fell into the ditch near Building B10. Jacobs was quoted by a local newspaper in that area, the Potchefstroom Herald, saying staff members and students who knew Van de Venter received counselling on Monday and the university’s counsellors also assisted his family.
