The MEC of Education in the Free State, Tate Makgoe, and various stakeholders hosted a breakfast in Bloemfontein to discuss the future of learners in the Free State.

In the meeting they rolled out a pilot project called ‘digital identity learner’. Makgoe says the Free State is the first province in the country to unleash this kind of a project and they want to lead the country into the fourth industrial revolution.

The project will hand out tablets to grade ten to twelve learners at 81 under-privileged schools in the Free State to enhance learning.

One of the stakeholders, Ansulene Prinsloo, says she realised what possibilities exist to develop Free State. She further says she is involved in teaching children from an early age about business and entrepreneurship.

Nolwazi Nkeane, another stakeholder, went further saying one learner who received a tablet was able to compete in the Allan Gray Entrepreneurship Schools Challenge, which is something they could not have done had they not received the tablet and its resources.
