More than 40 admitted to hospital with diarrhoea─── 12:43 Tue, 29 Oct 2019
To date, 41 patients with diarrhoea symptoms have been admitted to the Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Regional Hospital at Qwaqwa in the Free State.
This is according to the provincial spokesperson of the Department of Health, Mondli Mvambi, in an exclusive interview with OFM News.
Earlier, residents told OFM News that they were receiving dirty water in their taps since the beginning of September. Some of them have revealed that there is some sort of worm in their tap water.
However, Maluti-A-Phofung Water (MAP Water) communication's officer, Tebogo Kwakwa, says the municipal entity is trying its best to deliver water to residents with trucks. "We're currently operating with only sixteen trucks. Thirteen of them are used for communities and three are allocated for emergency services such as clinics, hospitals and schools. We're trying our best to reach all areas of Qwaqwa," says Kwakwa.
Meanwhile, it has been reported earlier on that Fika Patso Dam, which supplies water to 85% of Qwaqwa residents, is running dry with less than 10% during this time when there is no rain.
