This, after protests by disgruntled community members broke out on Monday, resulting in a municipal office being damaged.

Residents in the small town situated a few kilometres outside Kimberley have for weeks been disgruntled over what they called a lack of service delivery by the Sol Plaatje Municipality. Police spokesperson, Mohale Ramatseba, says the group of suspects facing charges of public violence will soon appear before the Local Magistrate’s Court and investigations into a case of arson continue. He adds that the Police’s Provincial Commissioner, Risimati Shivuri, has meanwhile appealed for calm and urged residents to refrain from any acts of violence and taking the law into their own hands.
