Speaking to OFM News post the launch of the Trompsburg Secondary School’s computer lab on Tuesday, Makgoe confirmed the department has not received any complaints regarding matric examinations. He says he remains confident that the province will emerge victorious and reclaim its number one position when matric results are announced in January.

He adds that they continue to monitor the writing of examinations closely and are expecting about 30 000 full-time Grade 12 candidates to all complete writing their exams. The province held the number -one spot in the country for two consecutive years, although it slipped down to position two in 2018, achieving 87.5%, while Gauteng obtained the highest pass rate at 87.9%. Makgoe maintains they are expecting a 100% pass rate from the majority of schools in the province.
