#RWC2019: Thousands in Central SA sign petition─── 13:39 Wed, 06 Nov 2019
Thousands of unpleased residents of Central South Africa have signed a petition for the attention of the South African Rugby Union (Saru) concerning not being part of the Springboks’ trophy celebrations.
The petition is already heading for ten thousand signatures to date.
The OFM Big Breakfast Show started the petition after Saru’s announcement of the destinations of the Springbok’s trophy celebration tour on Monday 4 November. The OFM Big Breakfast Show hopes that the tour will include the Free State’s capital Bloemfontein which has been the training ground of the Springboks before heading to the Rugby World Cup 2019 tournament in Japan in September.
The tour will commence tomorrow, 7 November, in Gauteng. The team, inclusive of captain Siya Kolisi and coach Rassie Erasmus, will go to Soweto, Pretoria, and Johannesburg, displaying the Webb Ellis Cup. On Friday 8 November they will go to Durban, Saturday 9 November to East London, Sunday 10 November to Port Elizabeth, and the final destination will be Cape Town on Monday 11 November.
At least 7,730 people have signed the petition.
