#PrellerSquareShooting: State's seventh witness to wrap up testimony | News Article

The murder trial of City Med MD, Louis Siemens, continues on Thursday 7 November in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein after a two-day recess following the unavailability of the legal counsel's Mphafolane Kama on Tuesday due to illness.

The state's seventh witness, a 41-year-old former waiter at Annie’s Country Kitchen, Ohuliseng Selemela, will wrap up his testimony in the trial where Stanley Bakili and seven others are standing trial. On Monday, the court witnessed a video that captured the last hour of Bloemfontein businessman Siemens’ life before he was shot and killed in May 2018.

In the video, Siemens is seen with the man believed to be Bakili, while the accused number four in the matter, Mojalefa Jali Molusi, also makes a short appearance. Seven of the 52 state witnesses have already been called to the witness stand, including former Health MEC Benny Malakoane, a senior official at the Health Department, and Pinkey Belot.

The men on trial are Bakili, Molebatsi Mogoera, Kagiso Chabane, Mojalefa Jali Molusi, Moeketsi Lesia, Karabo Tau, Sizwe Mpati and Clive Tshivenga. They are between the ages of 29 and 56 and include three police officers, a disbarred advocate, an accused in separate double murder cases, and a military man.

Selemela worked at the restaurant which is at the entrance to the Preller Square Shopping Complex’s basement parking lot and served as the final meeting point between Siemens and accused number one in the murder trial, Bakili, less than an hour before the former City Med Managing Director and shareholder was gunned down.

In addition to witnessing this final meeting, Selemela places accused number four in the murder, Mojalefa Jali, in the restaurant and walking into the basement parking before the murder takes place.
