#PrellerSquareShooting: So-called 'judge' told Motsoaledi what to say | News Article

There was a twist in events in the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein on Thursday 14 November during the testimony of former Health and current Home Affairs Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi in the murder trial of CityMed MD Louis Siemens.

Motsoaledi, who was allegedly named as the person who received R154 000 in bribes from murder-accused Stanley Bakili in 2017 for issuing bed licences, told Judge Pitso Molitsoane that a week earlier, during his trip to the People's Republic of China, he received a message from his personal assistant, instructing him to contact a person who depicted himself as Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba, in connection with the murder trial of Siemens in Bloemfontein.

He adds this person instructed him to write an affidavit and declare that he knows the former Provincial Health Senior Legal Advisor, Justice Vinger, Head of the Department, David Motau, but deny that he knows Siemens and Bakili.

He adds that as this sounded a bit strange to him, he then objected to this instruction and approached his lawyer to draft an affidavit which he says he then submitted to the office of the original Judge Ledwaba but he was shocked when Ledwaba informed him that he had no knowledge of the matter and has never spoken to the minister about this.

Motsoaledi today in court denied ever receiving bribes from Bakili or ever talking to Siemens. This after the state prosecutor, Johan de Nysschen, submitted evidence in court marked exhibit L and L1 of apparent Whatsapp messages between the person believed to be the minister and Siemens.

De Nysschen says in this report of over 100 pages and over 1500 texts, the name "Cader Stan" is being mentioned repeatedly in the conversation between Siemens and the person believed to be Motsoaledi.  In his testimony today, he says he only knew or learnt about the names "Bakili" or "Dr Siemens" from media reports.

Meanwhile, He adds that following the interaction with Judge Ledwaba, he approached the Westen Cape SAPS to open a criminal case. Motsoaledi says he then further approached the Ministry of State Security to assist in tracking the numbers of the impostor. He was shocked when he was informed that the numbers do not exist.

Both Judge Molitsoane and Advocate De Nysschen assured the minister that in no way do judges involve themselves in investigations led by the SAPS. De Nysschen told Motsoaledi that he was conned, which the minister accepted and said he suspected.

Bakili joins Molebatsi Mogoera, Kagiso Chabane, Mojalefa Jali Molusi, Moeketsi Lesia, Clive Tshivenga, Karabo Tau and Sizwe Mpatiin the dock. They are all between the ages of 29 and 56 and include three police officers, a disbarred advocate, an accused in separate double murder cases, and a military man.

Former Grootvlei Prison head and Mangaung Private Prison adviser, Tatolo Setlai, will continue with hos testimony today.
