Green economy ‘will create jobs’─── 14:52 Thu, 14 Nov 2019

The acting Deputy Director-General: Environment and Conservation in the Free State, Nozi Nkoe, says green economy is the answer for job creation in the Free State.
She said this during a summit hosted by the Free State Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Destea) in Bloemfontein on Thursday 14 November 2019. In attendance were the youth, municipalities’ members, members of SMMEs, and academia.
Nkoe told OFM News that waste recycling, manufacturing using recycled products, and methane gas to generate electricity can bring a positive impact to 38.5% of the unemployed youth in the Free State. She further says waste management should be amended with immediate effect.
The Stats SA 2019 Quarterly Labour Force Survey, Quarter 3: 2019 says youth unemployment in the Northern Cape is up by 0,4 of a percentage point, the Free State had an increase of 0,1 of a percentage point, and North West’s was down by 2,6 percentage points.
The percentage of young persons aged 15–24 years, who were not in employment, education or training (NEET), increased from 31,1% in Q3: 2018 to 32,3% in Q3: 2019 nationally.
