The police are investing a case of murder involving four local metered taxi drivers in Kanana near Orkney outside Klerksdorp in North West.

Police spokesperson, Amogelang Mabihi, says this follows their arrest this week after a man was brutally assaulted and eventually died. She says the assault incident of the deceased was as a result of rape allegations and his release from custody after the police couldn’t place the matter on the roll.

Mabihi says the rape victim allegedly informed the taxi drivers when she saw the suspect on the street and four then allegedly forced the deceased into a vehicle, and took him to a local Kanana graveyard where he was murdered. Mabihi says the four suspects appeared before Orkney’s court on Friday and their case was postponed to November 22 pending further investigation.

OFM News previously reported that just ouside Kanana, commuter safety was in the spotlight following the eruption of chaotic and violent scenes between minibus taxi drivers in Klerksdorp on Tuesday. Mabihi said at the time a fight between Jouberton and Khuma taxi operators broke out, allegedly over computer-related issues.
