#SchoolViolence: Teacher to appear in Bfn court on rape charge─── LUCKY NKUYANE 05:47 Thu, 21 Nov 2019
A 28-year-old after-care teacher will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court today, to face a charge of rape.
She is accused of raping a 13-year-old schoolboy from Brandwag Primary School on Friday. It is alleged that the teacher, who has since been suspended by the department of education, took the boy to a flat before the alleged incident happened.
Yesterday, police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, told OFM News that the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit was investigating the case, following her arrest on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, a case against a 53-year-old man also accused of raping a 12-year-old from Leretlhabetse Primary School on Friday 15 November at his home while the girl was sleeping, was postponed in the Koffiefontein Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
At the same time the Education MEC, Tate Makgoe, has expressed his disgust at the alleged Brandwag rape incident.
Makgoe further said he was thankful for and satisfied with the arrest of the alleged perpetrator, who was hired by the School Governing Body (SGB).
Makhele confirmed a case of rape against the after-care teacher was opened at the Park Road Police Station.
