Legacy of NC man celebrated─── 10:42 Fri, 22 Nov 2019
Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthwethwa, is in Kuruman in the Northern Cape on Friday 22 November 2019, to celebrate the legacy of Credo Mutwa.
He will also officially hand over a refurbished house to Mutwa. He made a commitment in 2017 to refurbish the house after it was brought to his attention that the roof at Mutwa’s home was in a bad condition.
The visit is part of the department’s programme - the Living Human Treasure Project - that seeks to profile and honour South Africans who possess rare indigenous knowledge, skills, and techniques.
Credo Mutwa is a Zulu sangoma or traditional healer from South Africa. He is known as an author of books that draw upon African mythology, traditional Zulu folklore, extraterrestrial encounters and his own personal encounters. His most recent work is a graphic novel called the Tree of Life Trilogy based on the writings of his most famous book, Indaba my Children.
