Sol Plaatje Municipality raises water concerns ahead of festive season─── 16:30 Wed, 27 Nov 2019
The executive mayor of the Sol Plaatje Municipality in the Northern Cape, Mangaliso Matika, says water will be cut if the residents don’t use it sparingly.
He says this water cut might happen from 30 November to 1 December 2019 to raise the water levels at the Newton reservoir for the expected high festive demand.
He says, in general, they are pleased with the old water purification plant at the Newton reservoir which provides an additional ten megalitres of water per day.
This follows the executive mayor’s meeting with the CEO of the Northern Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Nocci), Sharon Steyn, to discuss water and sanitation problems faced in Kimberley and surrounding areas.
OFM News recently reported more than 30 suburbs have been without water due to the rebuilding of the old water plant in Kimberley.
