CUT to build 4IR Innovation Hub in 2020 | News Article

The Central University of Technology (CUT) has been promised a R5 million investment from the Free State Provincial Government and international investors towards building a Fourth Industrial Revolution Innovation Hub in 2020.


A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela, and the Vice-Chancellor of CUT, Henk de Jager, at the Fourth Industrial Revolution Summit hosted at Pacofs in Bloemfontein on 28 November 2019.

The minister of Communications, Telecommunications and Postal Services, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, was also present and applauded the Free Staters for this move and also added that her department will ensure that the CUT has online courses for digital skills offered soon.

The summit was attended by the MEC of Police Sam Mashinini, MEC of Destea Makalo Mohale, MEC of Finance Gadija Brown, MEC of Education Tate Makgwe, Mayor of Matjhabeng Municipality Nkosijali Speelman, acting mayor of Mangaung Metro Manuciipality Molefi Morake, CEO of Renegern Stefano Marani, members of academia, entrepreneurs, and the youth.

Some of the attendees explained what the fourth industrial revolution entails.
