Outcome of Ford, commission’s deliberations announced─── 12:25 Fri, 29 Nov 2019
The fate of the Ford motor company who is up against the National Consumer Commission will be known today.
This, as the outcome of the investigation by the commission, as well as details of the settlement negotiations between the commission and Ford Motor Company of South Africa will unfold during a media briefing in Pretoria today/on Friday.
This follows after a large number of the company’s Ford EcoBoost 1.6 models caught fire during 2016 and 2017. In January 2017, the Ford Motor Company of South Africa recalled at least 5000 Ford Kuga 1.6-litre EcoBoost models and said in a media statement that the fires were due to engine overheating. All the affected vehicles and those not affected were recalled and had to be returned to a Ford dealership as soon as possible.
