Investigators of the South African Civil Aviation Association (SACAA) have been dispatched to start with the process of collecting evidence investigating Thursday's helicopter crash in Kimberley.
Pappie Maja, from SACAA, says the evidence collection phase will determine the size and scope of the investigation. Two well-known brothers – Peter and Jahn Hohne - were with other passengers when they were doing a forced emergency landing with the Bell 505 helicopter that belongs to their company. The accident happened near 3SAI in Kimberley and the occupants were flying over the Kamfers Dam to look at the flamingos.
Meanwhile, Peter Hohne said from his hospital bed that he is doing fine after the helicopter crash-landing. This is according to family spokesperson, Neil de Klerk. Peter and his brother Jahn, Rassie Erasmus, Hendrik Stroebel and Greg Watcham were flying the Bell 505 over the Kamfers Dam.
The helicopter belongs to Diaruk, an aviation company owned by the Hohne brothers.
