At least seven killed in FS accidents─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 12:16 Sun, 01 Dec 2019
At least seven people have died in three accidents on Free State roads this weekend.
According to Sipho Towa from the Free State Emergency Medical Services (EMS), four of these people died in a multi-vehicle accident on the N3 between Warden and Villiers just after 23:00 on Saturday night. One person was critically injured and taken to Mafube Hospital in Frankfort. At about 01h00, two more people were killed and two left critically injured in a separate accident near Grootvlei Prison on the R702 outside Bloemfontein. Towa says the critical patients were taken to the nearby Pelonomi Hospital for treatment.
The latest of these occurred at 04h30 on Sunday morning when two vehicles collided head-on, on the R57 between Sasolburg and Heilbron. One person was declared dead on the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the accidents are not yet known.
