No arrests yet after Welkom woman’s murder | News Article

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the murder of the 22-year-old Nthabiseng Rampai whose body was found in her bedroom at De Wet Street in Reitzpark, Welkom, over the past weekend.

Police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, says they are investigating a case of murder and are on a manhunt for her murderer.

When the body of the 22-year-old was found, her hands were tied up and she had strangling marks around her neck. There was also a written message next to her: "STOP ASSAULTING INMATES". It is alleged Rampai was raped and murdered in her bedroom by a suspect who waited for her father to leave the house before he broke in and attacked her.

Provincial police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, told OFM News that an open wallet with cards, including a driver’s license belonging to the victim, was found next to her body, and the motive for the killing is still unknown.

Anyone with information that might lead to the arrest of the suspect is urged to contact Detective Warrant Officer Jerry Lenyane of the Welkom Detective Services on 083-426-8343 or go to the nearest police station.

The 22-year-old is meanwhile expected to be laid to rest soon.
