A 33-year-old North West man will today appear in the Groot Marico Magistrates Court in connection with the murder of a 56-year-old woman and will also face a possible additional charge of rape.
Police spokesperson, Amanda Funani says the suspect was arrested on Saturday after a woman’s body was discovered next to a farm in Groot Marico, outside Zeerust in the early hours of Saturday.
Funani says according to information the victim was last seen leaving a local tavern after a quarrel with the suspect, who is reportedly an ex-boyfriend of the deceased's daughter.
OFM News previously reported that a 19-year-old man was arrested in Ramosadi village, outside Mahikeng for the brutal murder of 18-year-old Gomolemo Legae.
The suspect has since been remanded in custody after he abandoned his bail application during his first appearance in the Mmabatho Magistrate court recently.
The suspect is alleged to have stabbed Legae several times and doused her with petrol before setting her alight.
