Police Minister expected to visit Central SA─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 14:28 Tue, 17 Dec 2019
Police Minister, Bheki Cele, is expected to visit the North West on Thursday, 19 December 2019, to assess the impact of the South African Police Service's (SAPS) safer festive season operations.
The visit to the platinum province forms part of his nationwide visit, after the long weekend and as the country nears Christmas. Cele today made an appearance in Mpumlanga, and will tomorrow visit Limpopo, followed by the North West on Thursday. He is expected to be in the Free State and the Northern Cape this weekend before heading to the coastal areas.
His spokesperson, Lirandzu Themba, in a statement says Cele will also take part in several police operations and road-blocks to ensure that all South Africans are safe during this holiday season.
His visit to the Free State will come just days after the MEC for Police, Roads and Transport, Sam Mashinini, together with the Acting Provincial Commissioner, Solly Lesia, welcomed 218 newly trained police constables at the Dr Rantlai Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.
