The meeting is set to see MEC of Finance, Gadija Brown and MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Thembeni Nxangisa, conduct separate presentations on why the municipality should not be put under administration as requested by the Finance Deputy Minister, David Masondo. 

According to the spokesperson of Cogta, Zolile Lobe, the invoking of section 139 (5) as per legislation constitutes that the municipal council will not be able to make decisions on public funds. This as the municipality is not yet fully under administration but will be receiving interventions from the provincial government with the hope of turning around the tide on issues of basic service delivery.
