Former FS court manager, one other arrested for fraud─── 12:12 Tue, 24 Dec 2019
Former FS court manager, Desmond Mokhobo and an administration clerk at the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mxolisi Kakalatsa, were arrested yesterday by the Hawks for allegedly defrauding the department of almost R380 000.
According to police spokesperson, Linda Steyn, the duo allegedly transferred third party funds from different courts into a designated account between January 2018 and July 2019. The funds include, amongst others, maintenance money, admission of guilt fines, bail, court fines and fines collected on behalf of other government institutions.
Mokhobo and Kakalatsa subsequently appeared in the Zastron Magistrates’ Court on fraud charges and were both released on R2 000 bail each.
They are expected to appear in the Zastron Magistrates’ Court again on the 8th of January 2020.
