Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, says the suspect was nabbed in Rustenburg after the Boitekong police received a tip-off about his whereabouts from his accomplice who was held in detention in Boitekong. He says that further investigation linked the suspect to a business robbery that was reported in October this year in Brits.

Mokgwabone adds that the suspect and his three accomplices, including the one in detention, were further linked to murder and business robbery cases committed in Marikana in July 2019. Mokgwabone further adds that police have launched a manhunt for the two remaining accomplices who are believed to be in the Eastern Cape.

“He will also appear soon at the Bafokeng Magistrates’ Court in connection with the Marikana murder and business robbery,” Mokgwabone adds.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Commissioner, Baile Motswenyane, has applauded police in Boitekong and Brits for their collaboration which led to the apprehension of the suspects.
