Eskom restores power to Welkom residents─── LUCKY NKUYANE 10:49 Thu, 26 Dec 2019
Eskom says power has been restored to residents of Thabong, Welkom in the Free State after a blackout due to a lightning strike earlier this week.
The provincial Eskom spokesperson, Stefanie Jansen van Rensburg, confirmed to OFM News that the power was restored to residents at about 21h00 last night.
She says Eskom technicians worked tirelessly last night to restore the power supply to residents. Jansen van Rensburg adds that due to the incident, powercuts were implemented to give technicians time to work around the clock to restore electricity to the area.
SABC previously reported that continuous rain made matters difficult for technicians, as some of their vehicles were trapped in mud.
