Partly charred body of teenage girl found in FS graveyard─── OLEBOGENG MOTSE 09:17 Sat, 28 Dec 2019
Free State police urge members of the public with any information on what happened to an unidentified teenage woman whose partly charred body was recovered in a Senekal graveyard on ‘Boxing Day’ to come forward.
Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele says the young woman, believed to be about 16-years old, was discovered in a graveyard in Matwabeng township on 26 December 2019, before 07:00 am.
Her hair was braided up and she was wearing grey coloured jeans as well as a blue and red shirt. While she sustained burn injuries to her face, the cause of her death is as of this report, yet to be determined. Makhele says police found “an unknown liquid” and burned papers around the deceased’s body. No arrests have been made in connection with the murder.
In early December, the brutal murder of the 18-year old, Gomolemo Legae, from Ramosadi Village outside Mahikeng in the North West sparked outrage across the country. The teenager, was allegedly raped, then stabbed several times, before she was doused with the petrol and burned alive. The 19-year old, Karabo Bahurutshe, was arrested in connection with the brutal murder and rape.
He later abandoned his bail application in the Mmababtho Magistrate’s Court reportedly out of fear of a revenge attack at the hands of angry community members. Bahurutshe is expected back in the same court house on 21 February 2020.
Elsewhere in the Free State, Makhele confirms, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Mmabatho “Madonnah” James whose naked body was found on Saturday, 30 November 2019 in Namibia township in Bloemfontein by a passer-by. It is she believed she was raped and then stoned to death.
