#ChildTragedy: FS government vows to cover burial costs─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 11:27 Wed, 11 Mar 2020
Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela and Education MEC Tate Makgoe have committed to assist the family of eight-year-old Relebohile Mokgadi with burial costs.
This, after he died of alleged poisoning at the Tsholetsang Primary School in Bloemfontein on 4 March. Visiting the family home of Relebohile, where his mom and four siblings were cramped in a shack at Caleb Motshabi, Ntombela said they acknowledge the dire financial circumstances faced by the family and will be assisting them with funeral arrangements.
OFM News previously spoke to Relebohile’s mother, Galebale Mokgadi, who confirmed that she was uncertain as to how she is going to bury her son as she is a single, unemployed mom, reliant on social grants.
Ntombela and Makgoe said they have noted the family's situation and will help Relebogile's mom as much as they can. Makgoe highlighted that the school's SGB has also committed to help the family with groceries and other basic necessities.
Ntombela further alluded that the state of the family's shack is also of great concern and will be engaging the Human Settlements Department to assist.
Meanwhile, Relebogile is expected to be laid to rest on Friday.
