FS Public Protector Official takes legal action following suspension─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 06:10 Thu, 12 Mar 2020
A senior official in the Public Protector's office in the Free State is consulting a legal representative after he was served with a notice of suspension by Busisiwe Mkhwebane on Wednesday.
Hamilton Samuel, confirmed to OFM News his suspension followed his letter to Mkhwebane requesting her to resign. He says he has lost confidence in Mkhwebane's leadership and how she handles investigations.
Samuel says Mkhwebane has on several occasions failed to uphold the office's mandate nor do a thorough investigation on various cases.
He told OFM News the infamous Estina Dairy Project is an example of one of the few in the Free State. He alludes that he is not the only one in her office dissatisfied with her and that others will soon come forward.
Mkhwebane was dealt a major blow earlier this week when the North Gauteng High Court declared her report against President Cyril Ramaphosa invalid and set it aside.
OFM News previously reported that Mkhwebane had in the report, released in July last year, found that Ramaphosa had deliberately misled Parliament about a R500 000 Bosasa donation to his CR17 ANC presidential campaign.
Judge President Dunstan Mlambo on Tuesday found that Mkhwebane exceeded the scope of her office and her report was fundamentally flawed.
